MUSICAL TAG
I have been musically tagged by my bro and future sis-in-law on their He Said/She said blog I didn't follow the survey question-format but I am happy to share my current musical choices.
Although I can sing every children's show theme song on PBS Kids, Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network and the Disney Channel, I do listen to a lot of indie/alternative music too (my husband is really more in the know than I am) And since I don't own an iPod or download any music to my computer, nor do I go on long car rides, I rely on college music radio stations like XPN (Univ. of Penn)and PRB (Princeton radio) when I do drive. I also listen to XMU and XM kids on satellite radio.
Without any random programs, I tend to listen to CDs straight through, I like giving the in-between songs a chance instead of choosing only the songs I like. And here are my top three at the moment.
1. The Garden State soundtrack -- especially The Shins' two songs, Nick Drake's song and Simon and Garfunkel's; I loved the movie, I love the soundtrack.
2. Funeral by The Arcade Fire -- the songs grow on you, because they never sound the same when you listen to them
3. Rippingyarns by Cynthia Alexander -- okay so this is an old one from the Philippines, but it's still awesome. I also get all sentimental because I personally knew the artist, and remember the creative process that went into it.
Current song I like singing out loud -- that new one by Keane
Cool Stuff that my son Jake loves to listen to:
1. TEEN TITANS by Puffy Ami Yumi -- the whole album, NICE, is happy music. Jake likes to sing the Teen Titans theme out loud -- with or without his karaoke mic. He also likes singing the Japanese songs and wishes he could understand them.
2. Spiderman Theme by Michael Buble -- we listen to this on Yahoo's Launchcast radio
3. New Slang by The Shins -- he likes the Oooooo parts and calls it "that song from Garden State"
4. The instrumental theme song to DK Eyewitness documentary programs -- it sounds new agey and Jake loves to hum it.
5. Doctor Worm by They Might Be Giants -- I introduced him to this classic TMBG song after he heard the new TMBG songs on tv.
