Growing up

It's way past my bedtime. I am trying to write but can't seem to get started. My column is late (again!)-- must get out of this rut. I sat here an hour ago but I started surfing and reading blogs -- checking on friends -- clicking on links. Little Avid is not so little anymore he's a hotsh** director in the Philippines -- www.littlerocket.net From his site, I found Saab Magalona's -- one of Francis M's little girls. (Or at least I remember her when she was little. All the kids have grown up -- I do wonder about Elmo, who was the youngest when I left.) Ended up at The Wily Filipino. After googling "Growing Up Filipino" -- a lame attempt to inspire me to write, I found this list. Growing up Filipino in the Philippines is one thing, growing up Pinoy in America is quite another, I believe.

Kids Books and A New Blog

This week's Filipino Express column is about Philippine Children's Books. It's entitled "Reading Filipino."

I also have a new project called Circle Time -- a blog and newsletter for parents with kids 5 and under. It's basically for people around where I live -- it's free and self-financed but ultimately I hope I get paid to do it, or at the very least get free tickets to kid-related shows and places, and maybe even membership to museums etc.

Jake as the Cat in Hat reads Green Eggs and Ham at pre-school to celebrate Dr. Seuss's birthday.  Posted by Hello

And in Manila Girl this week, I talk about Marianne Villanueva's book "Mayor of the Roses."
